Current Jasmine

I feel guilty for updating my blog when I could be working or doing homework, but hey--the more procrastination tools, the better, eh? Speaking of work and school, with my last post being an "update of the life of Jasmine over the past year," this post can be "current Jasmine." Here's a flattering picture of "current Jasmine:"
Current Jasmine

Currently: Procrastinating

Currently procrastinating on: Work/Homework

Current work: Graduate Research Assistant...I am mostly researching gender mobility (the progression of women throughout the workforce), specifically in accounting, law, medicine, academia, and management--that is basically my ongoing project...I am also looking into the diversity efforts and equity missions at universities around the nation (what do they do to advocate for diversity within their staff and faculty?) It's tough, really really tough, time consuming, and demanding, but I am taking away a whole lot and find it very interesting and revealing.

Current weekend plans: headed to Laramie, Wyoming, to watch Monte (my brother) wrestle in a tournament...I'm so proud of Monte and would do anything to support him and his wrestling career--he has devoted his entire life to hard work and pursuing his talent.

I think an entire blog could be devoted to his wrestling so we'll save that for a later date.

Continuing...

Current obsession: soccer
"Alpha Wolf Squadron"--champions at a recent charity tournament

Current obsession #2: bowling
My bowling shoes!

Current obsession #3: gambling!
I have always loved gambling, and especially love playing tables (Blackjack, craps, roulette on occasion, and poker when I'm brave), but also enjoy slots every now and then. I recently went to Vegas w/ a friend and hit a $1,200 jackpot on a slot! I find myself pretty lucky on them...maybe I can make a living off it?! ha, don't get too worried...I actually like the "game" of gambling (the fast pace of craps, the strategy of blackjack), more than the "high" from spending/winning money.

Currently: going to end this blog post with my fave things: watching wrestling, playing soccer, bowling, and gambling/playing games (any games really-I even love board games, but I think my love for games could also be a blog of its own!)

Until next time...

A blog? A blogger? A blogette?

I got a blog, yes I did. It seems pretty cliche for one to get a blog to update followers on their marriage, their new child, their artwork...well, I don't have any of these. Maybe that means I'll find myself with nothing to blog about; I can't see that being true. Everyone can read about me talking (typing?) about myself. I mean where does my blog even start? Do I start with the past 22 years of my life? Do I start with my day today? The past hour?
How about we sum up "Jasmine in a nut shell":
I graduated from Utah State University last fall (December 2009) with a Bachelor's degree in Business, Management and Human Resources. I considered the next eight months of my life my "don't use my brain" period. I worked as a soccer coach, teaching soccer at daycares and preschools throughout the Salt Lake Valley until June. In June I worked at an amazing company called MonaVie as a Human Resources Intern. Boy, did I learn sooo much. I was able to use my degree, and I gained irreplaceable experience.

(Skipping to the point where I finally decided what to do with my life [for now]) I am now back at Utah State pursuing a Master's degree in Human Resource Management. It nearly consumes my life, but I am thoroughly enjoying it and....well....learning!
I have found I truly have a passion for learning. I love to learn about life, I love to learn about business and human resources (really though), and I love to learn about myself. There is so much that the world has to offer; I'm trying to discover it day by day, piece by piece. I am longing to travel anywhere and everywhere and take time for myself. My ultimate goal is to be independent and maximize my self-worth. We'll see how this goes--I'm enjoying the journey so far. :)
